BENEATH THE RHINNS OF KELLS

This is just a spur of the moment prompt.

A friend posted Dire Strait’s Telegraph Road on Facebook. I told the story of a time in my 20s when I had been “the man on a track, walking thirty miles with a pack on his back” and I had that album on repeat on my Walkman. It was a time I spent five days and nights in the Galloways, under clear blue skies and still, black nights.

I described it as the closest I have ever been to Heaven.

But then I thought, ‘No, David. That was Heaven for you back then. But the man you are now has been closer many times.’

So... there is the prompt. “The closest thing to Heaven.”

See what you can make of it.
